The Urdu word ‘Jaag’ in its simplicity hides a meaning so deep. It symbolized awakening and no awakening is possible without realization, self exploration and a struggle for improvement. These are the very principles the forum Jaag stands for!

We shun our fears of rejection by the mainstream media; our quest is for the realization of real talent and exploration of that talent. We strive to help all those youngsters who do what they love not because they have any material gain attached to it but because it comes from the inside.

Your true talents joined together on this forum will create ripples in a stagnant pond; the time to shun your inhibition is now! Acceptance is a key a factor in any awakening and we accept that each individual has a talent. If it is not accepted by the masses it does not mean that it is not up to the mark. We are here to stand as a voice of our youth: the agents of change! 


The tradition of true art and literature that got lost with the closure of the Pak tea house needs a renewal; we need an awakening, the first light after a dark night. Rise and join us we believe in the ideal of promoting talent of our youth. Robert F Kennedy once said, “Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope... and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. “

Let us be the small ripples that join together to become a wave to sweep down all walls. The time for awakening has arrived; JAAG for it is your turn to shine!

JAAG: An Opportunity for Upcoming Talent

It has become hard for the fresh talent to establish a place in the mainstream media world. The hard work done by the dedicated new comers is not appreciated and is not presented in front of the world with their name, they are not given any credit for the work they do instead they have to face very difficult situations to learn and once they learn, they do the same to their juniors which they had to go through in the start of their career. This is a cycle that keeps on moving on the same pattern. The challenges put forward by the mainstream media in front of the new talent are not easily absorbable for the new comers but with the passage of time, spending a great portion of their life in a particular area of the mainstream media, one gets direct credit and appreciation for his work and for that one may have to go through many sacrifices.

As the 21^st century has brought great inventions and discoveries into being, the media world has also been gifted by some greatest inventions, one of which is the advent of the online television. The concept of online television is quite common in the western part of the World and the humans living in that part of the globe are much dependent on it as well. People do not have much time to watch TV; they are so much busy in other daily activities that even if they want they cannot take out time for television. For the people living in the Western countries, TV is a box which shows sound with pictures. When during the weekends they have some time to relax their minds, they watch their favorite shows or programs by making the use of online television. Apart from this, the online television provides a place to the people to share their own talent with their community, society or the world as well.

For the first time in Pakistan, JAAG has stepped forward with the concept of online television, as is explained earlier that mainstream media is very difficult for the fresh talent to cope with. Here JAAG is providing a platform to the new comers in the field of media to share their talent, no matter what the quality is, no matter whether you are perfect or just a learner you can share your work with other people through the platform of JAAG. Even if you want to share something which is related to your personality or the society in which you live, JAAG gives you an opportunity to share your talent and your work with the entire world. You are given complete credit of your work, no body else gets any share and your work is known to the world by your name. When you and your work are appreciated by the world around, your confidence increases and your dignity and respect is also restored and enhanced as well. Whatever your expertise is, whether you are a good story maker, an educationist, a musician or an animation expert, you get the chance to show your talent and prove yourself.

You don’t need to face any racial discrimination or social issues. If you are expert at something, you deserve a chance to be known for your talent and establish your name in the world of media. You share your views on any issue that arises in your mind, you may write blogs, articles or an essay related to any topic and JAAG provides you the place to share it with the world. Whatever your talent is, just give it a form of a video, essay or a story and share it with the entire JAAG community whether it is related to social or economic issues, your personal life experiences, your thoughts, your imagination, education, music or any other topic, you share it with your name tagged to your work. Whoever you are, wherever you are ...

Jaag, wake up, from the continuous slumber of ignorance! Youth or adolescence is the fleeting phase in one’s life that comes and goes with the blink of the eyes. At first, when I heard of Jaag Tv, a very common random thought struck my mind, that, what’s so different?  You see massive flow of information everyday on different websites, social networking sites, elsewhere, people easily upload their work and receive appreciation then what is so different about Jaag?

A platform, for youngsters, the shining stars of Pakistan, from across remote areas and cities, not regularly or usually heard of, who do not have their say, and do not receive the deserving appreciation and recognition, is desperately needed.

Jaag promises to provide opportunity to every child or youngster, without any religious, racial, ethnic, language or provincial discrimination, to let the masses listen to what they have to say, and see what they have to show. The sole purpose is to bring forward the radiant youth of Pakistan, belonging to any district, whether literate or illiterate, who have the passion required for anyone who understands and wishes to bring a change.

I believe the youth needs to be encouraged to the extent that they achieve the capability, power, and action to make decisions and execute changes in their own lives and the lives of other people around them.

It is the time to let bygones be bygones and learn from mistakes made in the past, so we should be glad and proud about those who are struggling so as to bring a revolution in the society.

JAAG TV is a new media venture that hopes to provide an online platform for free expression in any and every visual form. The channel will allow complete access to users to post blogs, articles, portfolios, videos, documentaries, short films and much more.

Essentially, JAAG hopes to provide a portal for free artistic expression to the Pakistani youth along with a community to exchange ideas and information. Unlike most traditional websites, this channel will allow users the opportunity to sign in and then take control of the flow of information. Users’ will be allowed to participate in a series of discussions and contests that JAAG hopes to launch in the future. However, there is plenty of room to simply give voice to your thoughts.

If you are a painter, a musician, a puppeteer, an activist… whatever your message and whatever your art, this is the place for you to communicate it to a global audience and receive feed back.

A key feature of JAAG also involves the ability to reach out to prospective employers. All users will have access to the utility of posting their profile and contact information on the site as well as actively featuring their talent for possible scouts to enlist.

What the channel hopes to allow its users is a platform to launch themselves in whatever way they choose. All we ask is that you bring us your talent and your spirit. We will give you an audience.
